In the "RKF Bulletin" published "FCI Rules for International Field Trials with Bait", which, as follows from point 1, are not mandatory for all FCI members, and therefore for Russian greyhounds who have long been engaged in hunting with dogs. The phrase "field trials" is unambiguously understood as hunting trials for a free animal.

The emblem of the RKF - a contractual partner of the FCI - is the Russian hunting sighthound. Obviously, these "Rules" are proposed for use for our first hunting breed. "The rules of field trials", in fact - one of the variants of testing the working qualities of greyhounds in pursuit of an artificial object in natural conditions, were written in Europe, where hunting with greyhounds has not been almost everywhere for two hundred years.

"Speed?" Here is a small quote, so to speak, for the first acquaintance: "The speed required to catch the victim (game) is shown by the speed, the swiftness with which the dog accelerates after a sudden separation of the bait at the start." To understand, let's try to parse the description of this complex process. So, the speed (usually calculated in m / s using a stopwatch) is shown by the speed …? The "bait" (?) Breaks away somewhere … It has also been said about the capture (who? What? - it seems, after all, running, the object of pursuit - artificial) "victim (game)". The translators do not know that hunting game is always birds, and greyhounds are hunting dogs and catch animals. It seems that it is somehow indecent to mention the "victim", but "bait" is another matter. Professional hunters sometimes put bait in traps, however, "trap fishing" is allowed only under a license …

"Bait". So who is the bait for, and is there a trap? Is it not the “pride of domestic dog breeding” that the “amateurs” from RFLS are aiming at? "International field champions" according to these "Rules" can be baked like pancakes. If a domestic champion earns his title in conditions of tough competition at hunting exhibitions and hard work in the fields, then, judging by the publication of the RKF Bulletin, it is much easier to do CACIL. It seems that it is not difficult to guess which dogs will become the first such "champions" in Russia, if the persons who published the "Rules" take up the task. After all, they do not even indicate what the minimum number of dogs of the same breed should participate in "international field trials with bait"! It is only said that two dogs are tested in one race. Okay, if these are pharaohs or salukis, they may not exist in Russia anymore …

"Field Champion". So, now you don't need to hunt to get the title of "field champion"! So, God forbid, the dog, whose owner decided to get this loud title for her, really learn the taste of "catching", she can refuse to work "on bait" - well, how can you earn a "field champion" here? We already have “beauty champions” in the Russian dog breed, for whom the red price is an exterior assessment “satisfactory”, so wait for the “international field champions”!

If, gentlemen, greyhounds, things go on like this, then, rest assured, the trap will work not only for Russian greyhounds - this is also for all our brothers, other greyhound breeds, because among our group only the Italian greyhound can perhaps be considered purely decorative, yes and that is, individual representatives capable of working on a small animal … This is a systematic approach to the collapse of the domestic hunting dog breeding, now pedigrees for hunting greyhounds are issued not only in the Federation of Hunting Dogs, soon anyone will start to test it!

Trials! But serious problems are ripe, and serious running tests are really necessary for city greyhounds, now a rare greyhound will not agree with this. After all, it is far from hunting grounds, and the animal is not everywhere. Regular training is absolutely essential for greyhounds of all breeds. Due to a complex of reasons, our group of breeds had big problems with testing working qualities, especially with primary selection, as well as with maintaining these qualities in the required condition. A member of the RFOS, the Russian Union for Racing and Testing of Greyhounds (RSBB), whose creation was supported by the Central Board of the Rosokhotrybolovsoyuz Association, is engaged in a civilized solution of these problems, the Charter, Rules and Regulations of the Union are serious documents created on the basis of hunting analogues. It's no secret that testing the working qualities of hunting dogs is a matter of hunting structures. This is an instruction given by the oldest field experts, on whose initiative the Union was created. The whole system of testing greyhounds, both on the hijack race, and on the circuit tracks, and when testing the agility in a straight line, should be built on the principles of uniform criteria and approaches with real field tests, which, we hope, will agree with us, is also necessary improve. But, unfortunately, the fans of racing, entrenched in the RFLS, do not want to recognize the continuity between running and field trials. Their competence can be promised by the quality of the text published in the form of "International Rules".
