Video: Acne In Cats
Acne is a blackhead or blackhead on a cat's chin. The cause of this condition is unknown, but it is believed that it may be related to stress, poor grooming, contact dermatitis or atopic dermatitis and skin conditions that produce excess fat and malfunctioning hair follicles.

Symptoms On the chin and lips of the cat, numerous black dots appear, which then develop into small pustules, on which crusts form after their opening. In severe cases, hair falls out on the chin, swelling and itching may appear.
A secondary bacterial infection sometimes occurs. A cat can get this disease once in a lifetime, but sometimes acne occurs all the time. In Persian cats, the disease can negatively affect skin folds. The disease can occur in cats of any age, sex, and breed.
Acne diagnostics. Skin scraping will help determine the cause of the disease, which will show the presence of demodicosis, yeast infection, allergies, nematodes or eosinophilic granulomas. If a secondary bacterial infection is suspected, a skin biopsy may also be done.
How is feline acne treated? This disease can be controlled, but not completely cured. Mild asymptomatic cases may not be treated at all. To remove excess sebum, you can use anti-seborrhea shampoos with benzoyl peroxide (at a concentration of no more than 3%). It is beneficial to give your animal a fatty acid supplement.
Topical or internal antibiotics are used to treat secondary infections. Topical vitamin A (0.05% retinol) or sea buckthorn oil is often prescribed.
Oral retinoids (such as isotretinoin) can be used, but keep in mind that this is a teratogenic drug, meaning it causes birth defects in both cats and humans and should be administered with great care.
If there is severe inflammation, a short course of corticosteroids, such as prednisone, may be prescribed. If the disease is caused by ringworm, demodex, or a yeast infection, then treatment should be appropriate.
Cats are allergic to plastic and dyes, so it is sometimes helpful to replace her bowl with a glass or stainless steel bowl. If a cat has a tendency to cat acne or does not like washing its face, then the owner should regularly brush its chin.
