A cat is often spoken of as a symbol of adultery, and cats are often spoken of as sexual maniacs. But in reality, the spectrum of love relationships in the feline environment is extremely wide - from almost sadistic-masochistic manifestations to romantic love.

Biologists say that love relationships among these cute pets look like this schematically. Most of the time is taken by the courtship process, while the intercourse itself is very short and in most cases is unsuccessful.

As soon as the cat enters the “free” territory, it immediately begins to attract many males with its smell and calls. After short fights, which often do not go beyond the usual threats, rival cats are located at a certain distance from the female, giving her the right to make a choice. The cat continues to provoke them, but beware of the one who dares to show impatience at this moment and approach her - she will immediately use her claws and teeth. Other cats are not held in place by this behavior, and one by one they try to approach the cat, which invariably rebuffs them.

The most restrained (or cunning?) Cat is in the most advantageous position. He uses each new fight with the next challenger to crawl unnoticed as close as possible to the object of his attention. In order not to irritate the cat, he freezes in a position of complete indifference whenever the female stops her gaze on him. Finally, he is very close and publishes a quiet questioning "meow". If in response to this the cat does not receive a disdainful hiss, the game can be considered won. And if the cat is quietly waiting, lying on its paws and throwing its tail aside, the happy chosen one understands such a sign as an invitation to an act of love. The latter begins with the fact that the cat grabs its girlfriend by the scruff with its teeth and tries to hold it tightly. The act of love is usually very short and sometimes ends with … a scuffle. The cat suddenly begins to purr angrily, rolls over onto its back and digs its claws into the face of the chosen one,who has no choice but to retreat as soon as possible.

For a long time, biologists have been unable to figure out the reason for this behavior. Now she is famous. The fact is that the cat's penis is covered with sharp spiny growths. They, like the barbs of an arrow, easily penetrate into the cat, but straightening, they cause severe pain when trying to "exit". This pain also causes a sharp irritation of the cat, and at the same time … the process of ovulation. Ovulation occurs with every mating, and a cat in the same litter may have kittens from different fathers.

Cats do not stop at one partner, but, on the contrary, sequentially go through many males one by one. A cat can have up to a dozen partners per day.

The gestation period lasts from 58 to 64 days, for 20 days the cat deals exclusively with her babies, and then she again indulges in love affairs, announcing this with a kind of cry. As a rule, one such cry is enough for all the cats in the area to come running to him.

As time goes on, cats are less and less interested in our cat, which becomes more difficult to find a partner. The roles change completely. Now she does not scare off her boyfriends, but tries in every possible way to attract them: screaming, purring, smell. Finally, the time comes for the last love. The cat's screams become plaintively hoarse and no longer attract anyone.

It is absolutely true that cats spend a significant portion of their time in love affairs. In general, they are unhappy and awkward in love, which gives them a lot of suffering. And the tenderness that they show to people, those affection that they gladly accept from their masters, most likely compensate them for their suffering.
