Video: Vakin, Or Valgovka
Vakin, or valgovka (Japanese goldfish, Japanese 和 金). It is one of the first artificially bred goldfish breeds. It was bred in China between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD and remained unchanged for hundreds of years, where it was called "King-Yu". The Valgovka key mutation later led to the development of split-fin breeds. Many prototypes of goldfish originated from the Walgovka variety. Its value is in color, and it is bred mainly for decorative ponds in parks and gardens.
The fish grow quickly and by the age of three they reach 20 cm. Representatives of the valgus with a body length of up to 30 and even a few more centimeters are possible. The size of the fish depends not only on the volume of the container in which it is grown, but also on the conditions of detention, the amount of food and the temperature of the water.
The valgovka differs from the usual goldfish in its plump-rolling body and a forked tail fin. There are some individuals with a single, slightly elongated tail. According to ancient Asian tradition, the long-bodied goldfish was bred specifically for observation from above. The anal, dorsal, pectoral, and pelvic fins are slightly rounded.
Compared to the short-bodied goldfish, these fish are very active and frisky. Vakin is closest to carp and crucian carp, therefore, it is distinguished by its endurance and unpretentiousness in keeping. These fish are able to live not only in an aquarium, but also in open ponds during the summer season.
Valgovka value in their color. The breed has a variegated pattern of orange and white markings. Red is predominant and can evenly cover the entire body and fins. Often white and black are combined in wakin colors; silver, pearl, gray, bronze, brown, gold and other shades are possible - both separately and in combinations; yellow, orange and other colors are often present in color. Brightly colored areas, which can range from yellow to reddish orange, should be found all over the body so that only white does not dominate. Pure white variants are rare and are screened out by breeders. The most common breed of wakin has a shiny metallic color, and there is also a pearlescent variety of this fish.
To keep the Valgovka, you need an aquarium with a volume of 80-100 liters for two fish. These fish are sensitive to lack of oxygen, so aeration in the pond should be around the clock, also equip the aquarium with a filter. The temperature regime can vary from 18 to 22 ° C, dH to 25 °, pH - 5-8. As a soil, you can use small pebbles or river sand, the lighting is muted, overhead. Vakin is fed with live, vegetable and dry food. Since the wakin, like other breeds of goldfish, are prone to obesity, once a week the fish are given fasting days, that is, they are not fed at all.

The breeding season is in the spring and summer. It stimulates spawning to increase the water temperature by several degrees. Individuals are considered sexually mature at the age of 2 years. The female lays up to 2000 eggs. After spawning, the producers are planted. The volume of the spawning box is about 100 liters with a separator screen at the bottom. There should be 2-3 males per female. The incubation period is up to 3 days. The fry are fed with “live dust” and special food.
