All varieties of goldfish can spawn in a 50-90 liter tank. Spawning is nesting (one female should have at least two or three males). It is better if there is no substrate at all in the aquarium: eggs that have fallen to the bottom are better preserved on the glass bottom. Spawning of goldfish can occur at a water temperature of 16 ° C, and preferably at 22-24 ° C.

In an aquarium prepared for spawning, small-leaved plants (elodea, fontinalis, pinwort or hornwort) are placed, which are pressed to the bottom with a glass rod or weight. If there are no plants, they can be replaced with a finely plucked washcloth (not willow), the bundles are fixed like the plants. The aquarium should be illuminated around the clock by the sun or an electric lamp from early morning. It is recommended to maintain the water level no more than 20-25 cm. Constant aeration and regular water changes are required.

Strong goldfish are capable of spawning at about one year of age. The male, ready for spawning, has characteristic differences: a saw on the first ray of the anterior pair of pectoral fins in the form of a row of notches and usually warts the size of grains of semolina on the gill covers. The female, ripe and ready for spawning, has a thick belly full of caviar. If you look at it from above, then the curvature of the body of the fish is noticeable, caused by the presence of eggs. The resulting curvature often remains after spawning.
If the growth of short-bodied young goldfish is forced by abundant feeding, this can lead to obesity and, as a result, to infertility.
Oranda
A mature female apparently secretes substances with a specific odor, which is especially strong near the genital opening. It is this smell that attracts mature males to females.
In March - April, young males begin to swim after females, holding onto their ovipositor. On this basis, it is possible to accurately identify mature and ready to spawn males and females. If this occurs before April, males and females should be separated to avoid early spawning, as it will be difficult to provide live food for the fry. Females in this case must be kept so that they cannot rub against the plants, which can cause excitement and spawning. You can also delay spawning by lowering the water temperature.

It is best if spawning occurs in May - June, when the fry are easier to feed. When preparing the fish for spawning, they should be abundantly fed with live food (bloodworms, grindals, earthworms, daphnia, cyclops, etc.). In the absence of live food, you can give ground lean meat. A few days before spawning, males begin to chase the female; the activity of males gradually increases and on the day of spawning reaches a fierce pursuit, interrupted by short rests. From sudden movements when touching the plants, the long fins of the fish fray. To better preserve the fins, choose soft-leaved plants. Young males with shorter fins can swim faster and, therefore, ensure a more complete fertilization of eggs, their tails are less affected. Therefore, such males should be preferred by placing several in the aquarium for one female, not less than two, in order to ensure a more complete fertilization of eggs, since a large two-three-year-old female in the first, most abundant spawning season in the season can give up to 3000 eggs.
Spawning, starting at dawn, lasts until midday, only 5-6 hours. It can be repeated every 4-5 weeks until early October.
During spawning, the female swims through the thickets of plants or above them and releases eggs. Males, passing over caviar, water it with milk. 10-20 eggs are spat out at a time. Caviar is very sticky and sticks to the surface of plants. Eggs with a diameter of about 1.5 mm initially have a weak amber color, which fades considerably on the second or third day, and it is difficult to see transparent eggs. Unfertilized eggs turn white on the second day and quickly become overgrown with fungus. The newly spawned eggs are somewhat flattened. Getting from the female's ovipositor into the water, the eggs straighten out.

After spawning, the fish must be removed immediately, otherwise they will eat the eggs. You can do otherwise - take out bundles of plants with caviar glued to them from the aquarium and place them in a separate aquarium. The fry hatch at 22-24 ° C on the 4-5th day, at a lower temperature later. For example, at a temperature of 14 ° C, fry emerge from the eggs on the 7-8th day. In the first case, the fry are stronger than with the slow development of eggs. Eggs develop better in small vessels. If the eggs remain in the aquarium where spawning took place, it is better to lower the water level in it. Vessels with eggs should be in a bright place, but they must be protected from overheating. If you keep the eggs for several hours in a shallow vessel in direct sunlight, they may die. After the fry appear, you can put snails (coils) into the vessel so that they eat the unfertilized eggs, and thus prevent spoilage of the water.

Breeding Systems For Cats
In order for selection and breeding to be carried out most effectively, it is necessary to adhere to a certain breeding system. Unfortunately, most Russian breeders do not follow this rule. Their breeding of cats in the language of such a discipline as breeding is called random breeding, or random crossing
Enemies And Diseases Of Goldfish
When kept in an aquarium, goldfish have practically no enemies, except for the owner himself. Only through his oversight can various kinds of destroyers get into the aquarium. The first one who can do a lot of damage is the Cyclops. It should not be given in large quantities, otherwise not eaten, it attacks the fry
Origin Of Goldfish
The ancestor of the goldfish is the Chinese carp dzi. This question remained open for a long time, but there were references to the hypothesis of authoritative ichthyologists. Previous studies, due to the low technical level, did not allow to give an exact answer on this matter
Feeding Goldfish
Goldfish are omnivorous and very voracious , but not eaten food spoils with tremendous speed and can poison the water in the aquarium overnight. It is best to feed the fish several times a day, but in small portions that will be eaten clean
