Stones and dirt. When creating a waterfall, the equipment installed in your pond plays an important role. The better this equipment, the less costly your reservoir will be in the future. Depending on your desires, you can use rocks, mud and silt to decorate the waterfall. When using silt and gravel at the base of a waterfall and pond, carefully calculate the amount of materials you intend to buy. Take measurements of your body of water with you if necessary.

An average waterfall will require a pump with a capacity of about 350 liters per hour and a flow width of 2.5 cm. If the width is 12 cm, you will need a pump with a capacity of 1700 liters per hour.

To find the final height, measure the distance from the pump location to the highest point of the waterfall. For example, if your pump at the base is 60 cm, and you want a waterfall with a height of 1.2 m, then the final height is 1.8 m. So you need a pump with a capacity of 1700 l / h for a waterfall with a height of 1.8 m.
