Video: Feeding Goldfish
Goldfish are omnivorous and very voracious, but not eaten food spoils with tremendous speed and can poison the water in the aquarium overnight. It is best to feed the fish several times a day, but in small portions that will be eaten clean.
Not eaten food is carefully caught after 5-10 minutes. In extreme cases - after 15, if you keep a breed famous for its sluggishness (telescope, heavenly eye). For the same reason, it is advised to equip the feeder in a plant-free part of the aquarium.
And what will an adult fish like to eat? With her appetite, God did not offend her. Perhaps, it can not even be called picky: animal food - a coretra, a tubule, a large bloodworm, earthworms, etc.; vegetable food - delicate leaves of aquarium plants, scalded lettuce leaves (nettle, dandelion), canned green peas (peel off beforehand, and flatten the pea itself), scraped meat, steeply cooked and washed in running water porridge (buckwheat, oatmeal, wheat, rice), ordinary white bread; a variety of commercial feeds (flakes, pellets) are all eaten with great enthusiasm.

It must be remembered that goldfish are prone to overeating, which leads to disease (most often to shape-shifters), but it was this feature that was used to breed new fish species too. Some aquarists recommend doing a fasting day once a week, i.e. do not feed the fish at all.
Goldfish need less protein than tropical fish and more carbohydrates. Therefore, all companies that are serious about fish diets produce a special diet for goldfish. In addition to essential nutrients with a higher proportion of carbohydrates, these foods contain natural additives that improve yellow, orange and red colors.
By the way, about the delicate leaves of plants. It is best to plant plants with hard enough leaves that do not require water heating (egg capsule, vallisneria, sagittaria, arrowhead), and not in the ground, but in a pot, and securely strengthen this pot with large pebbles. Goldfish are sometimes possessed by a completely non-aristocratic passion for excavation, and they stir up the ground, like catfish. And then - goodbye, roots!
