These rules have been drawn up taking into account modern international requirements and are intended to guide all equestrian sports organizations during competitions. Due to the fact that race competitions are a relatively new discipline of equestrian sports, the rules for their conduct are currently not final and almost every year they receive a number of additions and clarifications, which, however, are not of a fundamental nature. The most important requirement for all race competitions is the observance of maximum care and attention to the condition of the horse, the desire to prevent unnecessary overloads that can damage the health of the horse.

§ I. General information

1. Equestrian racing aims to test a horse's endurance and speed performance at distances exceeding the triathlon field trials routes, and the rider's ability to properly distribute the strength and capabilities of his horse. Along the route, there may be natural obstacles (bush, ditches, steep ascents and descents). In these cases, the jumping technique of the horse and the correct position of the rider are not tested, however, how the horse overcomes natural obstacles is important in determining how the rider is in control of the situation, and also indicates the degree of the horse's departure.

2. The competition consists of several stages. The length of the distance of each stage should not exceed 40 km. At the end of each stage, a stop is required for a veterinary examination. The first stop should be no further than 30 km from the start.

- with the established rate of time;

- for the best time;

- mixed.

§ 2. Route

1. The type of terrain and difference in height must be clearly indicated in the competition program. There should be no more than 10% of paved roads on the route. The more difficult part of the distance is at the end of the run. The approach to the finish line must be wide enough to allow several riders to finish at the same time without slowing down or interfering with each other.

2. Use red and white flags to mark the route and limit obstacles in the same way as in Eventing. Red and white dividing flags must indicate the mandatory sections of the route, mark dangerous sections, mandatory changes in the direction of the route, indicate the start and date. Yellow flags can be used to indicate a general direction and to aid the participant in orientation. They should be placed in such a way that the participants can recognize them without wasting time. When the participants move along the route, the red flags should remain on their right, white - on the left.

3. Each participant must be provided with a map or route plan in advance, indicating the location of restrictive flags and signs. The main start and finish, as well as the start and finish of each stage, must be marked with red and white flags and corresponding signs.

4. Prior to the start of the competition, the distance course must be officially open to all competitors on the same day. Participants cannot change the position of flags and restrictive signs under threat of exclusion from the competition, it is also forbidden to ride on their own or another horse any part of the route after it is marked.

§ 3. Change of route

After the course is officially shown to the participants, no changes can be made, except in cases where due to unfavorable weather conditions (heavy rain, excessive heat) one or more obstacles or some part of the route becomes dangerous. In this case, the Chief Judge may reduce the difficulty or remove the obstacle. Each participant and team representatives must be officially and personally notified of the change before the start of the competition.

§ 4. Obstacles

1. An obstacle is considered as such only if they are marked with red or white flags and are numbered. Obstacles can be ditches, water hazards, steep climbs and descents. If necessary, the obstacles are reinforced so that they remain unchanged throughout the competition. There should not be more than one obstacle for every 5 km.

2. If the rider and horse is not able to overcome any obstacle, it does not lead to their exclusion from the competition.. In this case must be provided a workaround, do not increase the length of the route by more than 500 m.

§ 5. Start order and rules

1. All start and finish lines must be indicated with red and white flags and decorated with appropriate signs.

2. The start is given from a place. It is not necessary for the horse to remain completely still, but the competitor must not cross the start line before giving the signal.

3. There must be a judge at a sufficient distance from the start, who stops the participant with a wave of the red flag if the start was not accepted correctly. A competitor who started before the signal must, under threat of expulsion, return to his seat and cross the starting line again, but his time will be recorded as if he started on time.

§6. Distance and speed

1. The length of each stage and the required speed is determined by the expected degree of difficulty of the entire distance. Within the framework of the following restrictions, the organizers can choose the distances and speeds that are most suitable for the degree of complexity of the route and the level of training of the participants:

a) the length of the first stage should not exceed 30 km.

b) the maximum length of any stage should not exceed 40 km.

i) the maximum distance for a one-day competition is 160 km, for competitions lasting more than three days the minimum average distance for each day is 50 km.

d) in competitions with an established time norm, the maximum average speed at the distances of all stages of one day should not exceed 15 km / h.
