- How to care for Yorkshire Terrier coat?

Yorkshire Terriers are long-haired dogs, so most grooming efforts are focused on maintaining the proper coat appearance.

At an early age, the main task of the owners is to accustom the puppy to hygiene and cosmetic procedures. It is better to do this on the table, gradually accustoming you to new types of care. Even if the owners do not plan to show their little pet, great attention should be paid to grooming the coat.

Combing begins with a massage brush and ends with a metal comb. When tangles are found, a special spray is used to facilitate combing.

It is necessary to cut Yorkshire Terriers as the coat grows back. The haircut is done freely or in accordance with the standard independently or with the help of a dog hairdresser.

When cutting yourself, you need to pay attention to the fact that you should cut the hair around the eyes, in the anus and genitals, as well as between the toes, giving the paw a rounded shape.

Yorkies are trimmed and hair on the tips of the ears.

- How often do you need to bathe your Yorkshire Terrier?

Once a week, you should wash your dog with a special shampoo designed for long-haired dogs. In the process, it is necessary to use a conditioner balm so that the coat is silky, soft and has a healthy sheen.

It is highly discouraged to use products for people, as it can disrupt the acidity of the skin and other indicators, lead to dry skin, dandruff, loss of shine and other undesirable consequences.

After washing, you need to dry the Yorkshire Terrier with a towel and give the hair the desired position with a comb and hairdryer.

How to care for teeth, ears, eyes and claws of a Yorkshire terrier?

In addition to grooming your hair, you should pay attention to the care of your teeth, ears, eyes and nails.

At 3-4 weeks, Yorkie puppies begin to lose milk teeth, and molars come in their place. The incisors usually fall out without problems, but the canines must be monitored in order to remove the milk teeth in time and not interfere with the growth of the root canines. Vein bones can help loosen milk teeth (incisors only).

The teeth of Yorkshire Terriers should be brushed regularly (5-7 times a week) with special dental care products, using a "dog" toothbrush.

To clean the auricles, use cotton swabs dipped in boiled water or a special liquid for cleaning the ears. Once a week, plaque is gently removed from the inner visible surface of the ears. Some ear canal care products must be instilled directly into the ear, so it is important to read the instructions for use.

The eyes of Yorkshire Terriers should be wiped with a damp swab every day. It can be soaked in plain boiled water or freshly brewed tea.

Claws are cut as they grow back (about 2-3 times a month). Particular attention should be paid to this procedure when the Yorkie is still a puppy, since dogs nowadays do not have the opportunity to grind their claws on their own, and regrown claws can ruin the position of the dog's still fragile paws. Light claws are used to trim the nails. Yorkies' claws are small, and the pulp is close, so only 1-2 mm are cut. Then they should be processed with a nail file.

- Do I need to visit beauty salons for dogs with Yorkshire terrier and how much does it cost?

2500 rubles and above - the minimum cost of the monthly cost of caring for a Yorkshire terrier "by someone else's hands", that is, in beauty salons for dogs.

If the owners cannot or do not want to cut their pets on their own, wash, treat their ears, brush their teeth and engage in other hygienic and cosmetic procedures, then the services of professionals will come in handy.

However, do not think that if the dog is taken to the salon, then you do not need to take care of it at all. Some procedures, for example, rubbing the eyes or washing the paws after a walk, will still have to be carried out by the owners.
