From about 5 months, get ready to start practicing with a handler. Choosing a handler (a person who will teach your dog how to behave at a show) is a difficult task, I also advise you to heed the recommendations of the breeder or club. But now everything is over and you signed up for the exhibition (all dog shows are paid, the price can fluctuate from about 10 to 40 dollars, depending on the rank of the show, as well as how you sign up for it in advance). Any exhibition, even the most qualified expert has a little bit of a lottery.

Yes, your dog fully complies with the standard, flawlessly displayed … but … just to explain such moments in the catalogs there is a postscript that the title is assigned at the discretion of the expert. Nobody can influence his assessment. And let's say this expert doesn't like the type of your dog (like in the movie … but there is no such one, but with mother-of-pearl buttons? - We will look.) And there is nothing to be offended at. Each person has a different view of the same objects.

In the early nineties, I had a case. Two exhibitions were held on one weekend. Saturday at one club, Sunday at another. And at both shows my breed was judged by the same judge, I will not give a surname. So on Saturday my dog was rated excellently, got the first place, and on Sunday it was rated very good and did not even get into the list. What can I say … no comment. So for all the perfection of your dog, get ready not only for triumph, but also for defeat. But of course there are exceptions to every rule. I am familiar with one company that has hobby-class dogs (exactly purchased for the house, for the family at an inexpensive installment plan), but imagining themselves to be the ancestors of the breed … the so-called "new type",I certainly understand how you want to wishful thinking, but what about the standard ??? It says in black and white what a dog of this breed should be. It's just ridiculous to look at their pathetic attempts at exhibitions, the dogs look awful, but the owners are swollen with pride, that's what we are. This is where the difference between a real dog handler is manifested, who would not even think of exhibiting a dog of this class and everyone near canine riffraffs, who also manage to knit them, but since they are overflowing with ambitions, they do not listen to generally known principles, and having tied mediocrity with mediocrity boldly declare that a miracle has happened and now the litter of the century … And they are touched by bringing exact copies of their mediocre dogs to the exhibitions. And when the experts tell them about the undesirable type and so on, how many insults are poured on an innocent person! Such people immediately try to get some kind of expertise in their acquaintances in order to acquire "by acquaintance" at least some title …

It is also no secret that there are corrupt experts, God is their judge … at exhibitions, as a rule, these are the most market participants. All dissatisfied, and discussing everyone. There are such unscrupulous people: it's just a pity for those who, under the guise of a champion, bought a dog from such swindlers, here is wishful thinking:
