There are three main factors that influence the character and behavior of the savannah: ancestry, generation and socialization. F5-F7 cats (fifth-seventh generation) are very friendly, easily get used to both human society and other domestic animals (except birds, rodents and fish), without creating any problems. The character of the F1-F3 savannahs (first-third generation) is more wild and independent, without proper socialization, such cats can be wild, fearful and hiding at any, in their opinion, danger. They will growl, hiss and defend themselves, especially when strangers appear. In general, the savannah is not a cat for everyone, and even more so, it cannot be purchased as the first cat.

Savannah is a curious and very active explorer who loves large spaces. During walks in the open air, the cat will definitely get acquainted with everything that it meets on its way. Savannahs jump very high, they can jump through doors, refrigerators and tall cabinets. Some savannahs can jump from place to height up to 2.5 m!

As for behavior, the Savannah cat is very active and jumpy, loves to run around a vast space, and this must be taken into account when deciding to buy a Savannah: in a small apartment she will get bored, but in a large private house she will not. Loves to climb higher. If possible, the savannah will drop everything that is / lies on the shelves on the floor.

Savannahs are distinguished by relatively high intelligence, easy to learn, and very curious. They quickly understand how to open front doors, cabinet doors, refrigerator doors, etc.

Savannahs have an interesting feature - they love to play with water, unlike most domestic cats. It's all about genes - their ancestors, servals, often live and hunt near water bodies, so savannas are favorable to water. Their main fun is to throw toys into the bathtub filled with water, so that later they can get out with their paws. Sometimes savannas begin to quickly "knock out" all the water from the cup with their front paws until it is empty.

By nature, the savannah resembles a dog. She is very attached to the owner and will follow his every step. Often, with a greeting, savannahs fluff the base of the tail. This behavior should not be confused with raising the fur on the back and full length of the tail in fear. Savannahs also often snap or wag their tails in excitement or pleasure. They prefer to sleep with their beloved owner next to them under a blanket, or maybe lie on their heads.

Savannahs are "talkative", can chirp like wild servals, meow like house cats, or make sounds that are a mixture of both. Some animals may “hiss”. This sound is similar to the hiss of a large snake, rather than the hiss of a domestic cat.

First generation savannas (F1) require a lot of exercise, have a strong hunting instinct and are significantly larger than fifth generation savannas. They need a spacious enclosure with free access to the house, where they can jump and climb. On the site, you can equip a small pond where cats can swim and fish. Some breeders recommend leaving such savannahs in an aviary overnight, others strongly oppose, arguing that socialization is very important for the first generations.

In terms of content, F1-F3 hybrids are about two times more expensive than the content of later F4-F7 hybrids. Generations F1-F3 need to be fed only meat and live animals (chickens, quails, rabbits, forage mice and rats), and this is not for everyone. Adults F1-F3, most do not use a litter box. Due to its large size, F1-F3 can be knocked down during games. They avoid meeting with children, rarely play with them. If you are looking for a companion for a child, consider purchasing the F4-F7 Savannah (Generation 4-7).

They love to play. Feather and fur mice are considered favorite toys, they like to bring abandoned items. They love to play hide and seek, hiding in the most unexpected places.
